Song Saa

After having done with the land tour through the ancient route from Vietnam to Cambodia, perhaps an isolated beach might be the perfect choice of relaxation for you. Song Saa can be reached by speedboat from Sihanoukville in roughly 45 minutes.  This is a posh and private resort that established on Koh Ouen island (part of Koh Rong Archipelago), a hundred percent away from the hustle and bustle of Cambodian main cities.

Song Saa the name itself, meaning “sweat heart”, has described the island in the best way possible. Koh Tang

A five-hour boat ride from Cambodia mainland or three-hour from Koh Rong Saloem, Koh Tang is said to be the best island for diving. This island witnessed the last official battle of the Vietnam war between the US military and the Khmer Rouge forces in 1975.

It is necessary to mention the history as it is one of the main reasons Koh Tang’s seascape is unspoiled. Koh Tang is uninhabited and mostly rocks, there is a small military base and three beaches that make beautiful untouched off-shore coral beds and lively underwater life.

Koh Rong

Best-known Cambodian island - Koh Rong welcomes thousands of visitors thanks to its long list of beautiful beaches, abundant activities, and daily beach parties. Koh Rong is so big and beautiful that travelers can spend the whole week there enjoying the ocean, soak up the sun and participate in multiple fun activities like quad bike riding, snorkeling, boat trip and even zip-lining in an adventure park. 

Long beach (Sok San beach) is one of the main destinations on Koh Rong. Miles-long of icing sugar sand and turquoise seawater, Long Beach is simply a tropical paradise. Travelers can also go on a hike to the nearby fishing village (Sok San village) for an authentic insight into Cambodian life. 

Quite the opposite with its name, the Police beach offers all-night parties for fun lovers on Wednesdays, Saturdays and every full-moon. The schedule enables visitors to dance until sunrise then have a few days to recover and relax on the beach.

Lazy Beach

Not far from Koh Rong located the Koh Rong Samloem - a more relaxed sister island of Koh Rong. The island is home to Lazy beach - a genuine hideaway for travelers.

Sit on the western side of Koh Rong Samloem, Lazy beach has very limited access and accommodation which hosts a handful of visitors only. As such, it is easily seen that the water is flawlessly clean and feel like you can have the whole beach for yourself.  Immensely calm vibe spreads out the whole area and the serenity gets even better at sunrise and sunset. 

Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay)

Bordering Vietnam, Koh Tonsay or Rabbit Island is only a 20-minute boat ride away from the coastal town of Kep. This island is catered toward people traveling with a budget providing a few basic wooden bungalows, some little bars, and restaurants. There are hardly any distractions or anything else to do besides eating, drinking and enjoy the water. 

Koh Thmei

Koh Thmei is another unique place to be in Cambodia. It takes a fifty-minute boat ride to this incredible island from the mainland. Koh Thmei situated in the Ream National Park, a protected area that is home to approximately 150 types of birds and plenty of other threatened species. There is solely one option for an accommodation known as Koh Thmei resort, consists of eight rustic bungalows with a private beach and a beachfront bar-restaurant.

Coming to Koh Thmei, travelers should expect nothing but nature (the landscape, seascape and the wildlife). Bird-watching, wanderings in the ecosystem, kayaking, afternoon snooze at the bar and occasionally see dolphins are almost everything you can do on Koh Thmei. It is not much to do but surely offers a great time being fully immersed in nature, far away from the hustle and bustle.     

Otres Beach

Dedicated to laidback travelers, Otres beach is another alternative in Sihanoukville. There are lots of beaches along the coastal line of Sihanoukville but Otres beach developed to be a calmer ambiance, less crowded one. There are restaurants and bars from cheap to middle-range for visitors to choose from.

Windsurfing and kayaking are quite popular outdoor curricular in Otres beach. The Otres market is held every Saturday night where tourists can enjoy live music while munching on delicious local food until Sunday’s early morning
